Five years ago, the ratio of Priya’s age

Let Priya’s present age be $P$ and Meera’s present age be $M$.

Five years ago, the ratio of their ages was 3 : 2, so

$ \frac{P - 5}{M - 5} = \frac{3}{2} $

 2(P - 5) = 3(M - 5)

 2P - 10 = 3M - 15

$ 2P - 3M = -5 \quad ...(1) $

The difference of their present ages is 10 years:

$ P - M = 10 \quad ...(2) $

Substitute $P = M + 10$ from (2) into (1):

2(M + 10) - 3M = -5

 2M + 20 - 3M = -5

 -M + 20 = -5

M = 25

Answer: Meera’s current age = 25 years
